Beni Suef Day Tours — 7 Hours
Meidum, about 100 km south of Cairo, is the collapsed pyramid begun under Huni and finished by Snefru around 2600 BC. Its outer casing fell away and left a tall stepped core standing in a mound of rubble, so it looks unlike any other pyramid. You can climb down the passage into the burial chamber, and you'll likely have the site almost to yourself.

Beni Suef Day Tours — 9 Hours
A long day south-west of Cairo that pairs two very different sites. The Meidum Pyramid, from about 2600 BC, shows the moment step pyramids began turning into true ones. Then you cross into the Fayoum desert to Wadi El Hitan, the Valley of the Whales, where skeletons of whales around 40 million years old lie in the sand.
