Philae Temple | Ancient Egyptian Temple

Philae Temple is one of the Asturian temples because it shows the legends of Isis and Osiris and the power of their love. The Temple of Isis was built in Philae during the reign of Ptolemy II (the Greco Roman era in Egypt), and it is dedicated to Isis, Osiris and Horus. The walls of the temple contain scenes from Egyptian mythology of Isis bringing Osiris back to life, the birth of Horus, and the embalming of Osiris after his death.

Nestled on the picturesque Agilkia Island, along the tranquil waters of the Nile, Philae Temple emerges as a mesmerizing beacon of Egypt's rich heritage. Join me on an immersive exploration, as we step back in time and unveil the enchanting stories etched into the stones of Philae Temple, a cherished highlight of Aswan Tours and (Egypt Tours).

Philae Temple is one of the most picturesque temples in all of Egypt. You can wander around the Nile to reach it through a water taxi to watch it and enjoy knowing a lot about the life of the ancient Egyptian. Through Mr Egypt Tours, it is an island based temple complex in the lower Aswan Dam reservoir, below the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, Egypt.

Our journey begins with the approach to Agilkia Island, a serene haven cradled by the Nile's gentle embrace. As the boat glides toward the island, the grandeur of Philae Temple slowly comes into view, its towering columns and intricate carvings rising against the backdrop of the Egyptian sky. Agilkia Island, a testament to modern preservation efforts, became the new home for Philae Temple after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

The temple is composed of cinnets, with steep walls and pinnacles surrounding the island. It is believed to be one of the burial places of Osiris, and it is said, according to legend, that it is the place where Isis brought Osiris back to life. You can read more, travel and enjoy through (one-day trips to Aswan).

Because of the water that was about to drown the temple, the rescue operation began by building a dam and three women surrounding the temple and an artificial lake to reduce the water level. After that, the antiquities were cleaned, measured, and disassembled into 40,000 units, then transported and assembled on the island of Agilkia, where they remain until today, to serve as a great relic for all Egyptians, and for all people from all over the world to come to Egypt to see and enjoy it.

Architectural Splendors of Philae

Aswan Tours offer a chance to marvel at the architectural brilliance that defines Philae Temple. Delicate columns adorned with lotus and papyrus motifs, towering pylons that guard the entrance, and the sacred precincts were priests once performed rituals all stand as a testament to the artistic prowess of ancient Egyptian craftsmen.

Light and Sound Spectacle

As the sun begins its descent, Aswan Tours take on a magical tone with the Philae Temple Sound and Light Show.

The temple comes alive with a symphony of lights and narrations, creating an ethereal atmosphere that transports us back in time. Shadows dance across the stones, and the voices of ancient Egypt echo through the night.

Our exploration concludes, but the echoes of Philae Temple linger. As I board the boat back to the mainland, I carry with me the whispers of ancient prayers, the rustle of palm leaves, and the timeless allure of a temple that has withstood the test of centuries. Philae Temple, a jewel in Egypt's attractions, invites every traveler on Egypt Tours to embark on a journey beyond time, where history, mythology, and beauty converge in a harmonious dance along the banks of the Nile.
